Group Chairman Gil Chua receives Outstanding Catandunganon Award

DDB Group Philippines Chairman and CEO Gil G. Chua recently received The Outstanding Catandunganon Achievement Award given by the island province of Catanduanes to natural-born Catanduanons who excelled in their field of endeavor and had an outstanding contribution to the cause of humanity.

The Outstanding Catandunganon awardees represent the best the province has ever produced. They faced impossible obstacles and life challenges that made them the leaders that they are in their respective fields today. Through it all, they never forgot their roots – the quaint island of Catanduanes where they started their little dream, having only enough and yet driven by a heart to succeed.

“I am grateful to have had an exciting and fulfilling personal life and career, and most especially for being able to lift others as I go on with my journey. After having experienced so much, I have nothing but gratitude to the province, the people and everyone who contributed directly or indirectly to make me who I am today. Thank you! I dedicate this award to my Mother, a relentlessly loving person, who lived her life dedicated to quietly and generously helping the people of Catanduanes,” said Chua.

A pillar in the Philippine advertising industry, Chua has led the industry’s evolution from one that merely makes ads to one that creates valuable innovative and creative business solutions that help grow clients’ businesses and provide job opportunities for Filipinos. When he took over the reins of DDB Philippines in 1999, he strategically formed companies that would realize his vision to establish the country’s first full-service creative business solutions provider.

Through the DDB Group companies, Chua has contributed to inclusive economic empowerment with the conglomerate operating in five cities and seven other locations nationwide, giving Filipinos inclusive opportunities to better their lives. Gil also leverages business and leads his teams in giving back to society through the Group’s corporate responsibility arm DDB Cares in partnership with other non-profits, helping causes that involve women and children, youth development, arts and culture, and the environment
