As Filipinos observe World AIDS Day, DDB Group Philippines once more brings to the fore the urgent need to raise awareness on the high prevalence of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and the dreaded Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) that it causes.
About 77,000 people are living with (HIV) in the Philippines, which now has the fastest growing HIV cases in the world, with about 13,384 new cases in 2018, three-fold higher than the 2010 figure, according to the Joint United Nations Program on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS).
The company hopes to do its share in sounding the alarm against the HIV-AIDS epidemic through its partnership with the Rotary Club of Makati West (RCMW) for its #ScrewAIDS HIV education campaign.
Launched by RCMW together with The Red Whistle (TRW) community of HIV advocates during World AIDS Day last year, #ScrewAIDS marks its first anniversary today.
It has so far covered five campuses with over 5,000 students benefiting from the campaign through educational dialogues, free HIV screening (with strictly confidential results), and counseling.
Interested schools who want to participate in the #ScrewAIDS HIV Caravans may get in touch with the RCMW Secretariat at tel. no. (02) 7753-3098 and through email at rcmakatiwest2016@gmail.com.
Let’s #ScrewAIDS together!
