The lyrics of the song says it all. Our medical frontliners have answered the call to fight an invisible enemy that is the novel corona virus 2019 (COVID-19). The tasks at hand are daunting and ask so much of them physically, mentally, and emotionally. But they unselfishly heeded the call to serve, even causing the lives of some of the best in their ranks.
As a way to show appreciation and gratitude to the country’s medical frontliners – doctors, nurses and hospital staff – who risk their lives in the fight against COVID19, DDB Group Philippines, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Makati West (RCMW), produced a touching tribute video for them dubbed #AnghelSaLupa.
The video was the Philippine adaptation of an earlier initiative by DDB Singapore for SG United. Titled “Angel Eyes” with lyrics by Jeff Cheong and Joshua Poh, and music by the latter, the original song and video was released last February by #SGUnited to honor frontliners, whose caring eyes people see above the protective masks they wear. They are the masked heroes whose sacrifices have been invaluable in this pandemic.
The Filipino rendition, “Anghel sa Lupa,” was produced by Diane Chua, adapted in Tagalog by Kats Pador, performed by Micci Mauricio and Bym Buhain, with video editing by Sab Gutierrez and music production by Hero Mauricio.
DDB Group Philippines Chairman and CEO said, “It is a small token of gratitude that we, as marketing communicators and as Filipinos, can give to the real heroes in this COVID-19 battle – our healthcare workers who have been at the frontlines since the start of this ‘war.’ This tribute comes with prayers for their safety as they risk their lives so others may live.”
The lyric video was posted on DDB Group Philippines YouTube channel and shared in the latter’s as well as in the Rotary Club of Makati West’s Facebook page.
The #AnghelSaLupa song is also being aired on the following radio stations: Energy FM 106.7 (Ultrasonic); ifm 93.9 (RMN); Barangay LS 97.1 (GMA); Jam 88.3, Wave 89.1, Magic 89.9, and Play FM 99.5 (Tiger 22), and on all RGMA stations.
